At Alford Primary School we aim for all our children to see Mathematics as a vital part of everyday life. We want children to develop a confident and enthusiastic attitude towards Mathematics that will stay with them through their education.

We always try to contextualise Maths so that children understand the links between the Mathematics that they learn in School and how to use Maths in real life. We try to show that Mathematics is not an isolated subject, by linking learning to the practical matters of the real world around them.

Our top tip would be to try to make Maths as much fun as possible - games, puzzles and jigsaws are a great way to start.
