Who am I?
I am Andrew Willoughby and I have lived in Alford for most of my working life. I am a retired teacher, having been Director of Music and Head of Lower School at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Alford. I am now a part-time supply teacher and I conduct Alford’s choir, The Elizabethan Singers.

Why am I a Governor at APS
I have long connections with Alford Primary School. My three children were all pupils there and my grandson is now in Year 1. It is a safe, welcoming school in which each child is given every opportunity to do his or her best. I am proud to work with the Headteacher, staff and pupils in this creative, exciting school.

What do I do as a Governor?
As Chair of the Governors my aim is to help the school to keep running as effectively as possible. In doing this the priority is always to ensure that every pupil gets the best possible education. I enjoy working with our dedicated and talented team of Governors and staff to help the school to build upon its successes. I meet weekly with the Head Teacher and come into school regularly to meet staff and pupils. I am a member of the Governors’ Pupil Progress and Welfare committees.

Who am I?
My name is Debbie Forster and I am the Head Teacher of Alford Primary School as well as a Governor. I have worked at Alford Primary School since 1998, first as a KS1 Team Leader (teaching in EYFS, Year 1 & Year 2 during this time), then as Deputy Head (when I taught in KS2), and from 2010 as Head Teacher.

Why am I a Governor at APS?
Being Head Teacher puts me in a very good position to work with the Governing Body in leading and managing the school. I have a complete overview of all aspects of school life, from finance, managing staff, Health and Safety and of course teaching, learning and safeguarding: all of these aspects are dealt with by the Governing body.

What do I do as a Governor?
As Governors, we meet on a regular basis to make sure that the children are making at least good progress, and are attaining the best standards they can; in addition, we ensure that finances are being used correctly and that school building and staffing issues are dealt with. From looking at data, children’s work and conversations with children and staff, Governors identify any issues that need addressing, and make sure actions are put in place that will result in improvements. As Head Teacher, I prepare termly reports that give a clear picture of how the school is performing against all OFSTED criteria. I also work with other staff to make sure they provide relevant information to the Governing Body.

Who am I?
Hi, my name is Angie Dewick-Eisele and I have lived in Alford for the last 20 years. I work as HR and Health and Safety Manager at a local company that my husband and I own. I have a great interest in crafts and being creative.

Why am I a Governor at APS?
My four daughters all came to Alford Primary School and they could not have had a better start to their school education. I really enjoy being part of the team that makes this school what it is. We are very lucky to have such dedicated teachers and being a Governor is my way of showing my appreciation for all that the team does in providing a caring, inspiring learning environment.

What do I do as a Governor?
My main roles are ensuring that the school is a safe environment and that the policies that are in place are up to date and accurate. I come in to school and do walk rounds as well as fire drills. I ensure that the statutory document for health and safety within schools is filled in annually. As a Governor I am involved in reviewing data presented at meetings. It is lovely to see how happy the children are when I visit.

Who am I?
My name is Diane Newbery and I live nearby in Sutton on Sea where my two children attended the local primary school and then secondary school in Alford. I have worked in the Alford Primary school office since 1986, and still have a commitment to one/two days a week in the Finance Department to support the new Bursar during her initial training year.

Why am I a Governor at APS?
Over the past years, I have been happy to work in the Primary School where children are valued and an ethos of high expectation drives staff and pupils alike. It has been a pleasure to get to know families whose children (and parents) have attended the school. Therefore I was delighted to be co-opted as a Governor early this year and be able to continue and support the school in any way.

What do I do as a Governor?
At the moment I am on the Finance Committee as that is where my immediate skill set lies. However, I shall be undergoing further training as a Governor so that I can contribute fully to the discussions in the meetings.

Hi, My name is Pippa Forman and I am one of the parent governors at Alford primary school. I am one of the Assistant Head teachers at John Spendluffe Technology College and I work teaching languages and I am the SENCO. I have been teaching here for 22 years!

Why am I a Governor at APS?
I have a daughter in Y6 and am very proud of the school she has attended from Reception. I became a governor as I felt I wanted to help the school if I could and have actually found it benefits both schools for transition.

What do I do as a Governor?
I work with the Headteacher and the SENDCO about pupils at the school and processes in place to support Alford Primary. Working at the secondary school opposite as SENDCO, I am able to liaise effectively over children and parents starting at JSTC. As a full time working teacher, I hope I can bring my experience and expertise to the governing body and outside agencies that Alford Primary School deal with, giving others outside of education a well rounded viewpoint.

Who am I?
My name is Lisa Button and I am an Associate Governor. I am also the Deputy Headteacher, and have been working at Alford Primary School for 17 years - teaching in Years 2, 5 and for the most part, Year 6. I continue to lead teaching staff and support pupils in Year 5 and 6.

Why am I a Governor at APS?
Being part of the senior management team, I am well-placed to support the Governing body in leading the school. My roles include leading Teaching and Learning through the school (with a particular focus on English), as well as assimilating and analysing pupil outcomes.

What do I do as a Governor?
I present the Governors with important information around Pupil Progress and Welfare, supporting them in ‘finding out for themselves’ about key areas of strength and development in school.
